National Adoption Day
We celebrated Denton County Adoption Day a little late this year but just in time for the kids to celebrate the holiday season with their new families. National Adoption Day is the annual, collective, national effort to raise awareness of the more than 10,000 children currently in foster care across the country. The joy was infectious on December 4th, 2016 at the Denton County Courthouse, as 20 waiting children and their foster parents here in Denton were granted the adoptions they so desperately deserved.
Thanks in part to our sponsors, DCBA attorney volunteers and our local Judges who took time out of their busy schedules to participate and make dreams come true, this event once again proved why it’s one of our DCBA favorites. Above all, the day would not have been possible without the amazing Brook Stuntebeck of KoonsFuller, PC who chaired the DCBA Adoption Day Committee, Casa of Denton County, CPS and the volunteer students in the Social Work departments at both the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University who worked magic that only people truly passionate about their cause could, and made this wonderful day a reality for so many families.
